it all boils down to this.

Just read this article on aftenposten.no Full crisis in the cop15 discussions. I believe its been on most peoples minds these days. Norwegian environmental minister, Erik Solheim, says there is a crisis in the negotiations. The developing countries are refusing to let the discussions continue before the issue of financial aid for developing countries is resolved. The US refuses to discuss the matter any further. The Danish negotiators wants to move on. Solheim says there is little Norway can do to, “we are now at the core of a conflict between the big powers of the world.”

Damn.

Something studied, researched, read, written…somehow all my work always boils down to that question in some form. North vs south/ rich vs poor/ developed vs undeveloped. They are just labels. Suddenly its right there- clear confrontation- no wishy-washy research paper vague conclusion. With two days left of the conference, intending to find a solution to what might be the most important issue of our generation.

Aftenposten continues: “Outside the conference halls intense demonstrations are going on.”

A sense of urgency is in the air. A part of me feels pessimistic. Another powerless. But also challenged. And there is hope in challenged.
