Pretty French

It seems the French are born with this inherent sense of “esthétique.” Everything is just so….pretty. The sound of the language, the way they elaborately decorate every building, every metro station and every surface. The way they dress. Seems they can’t help it.

Like in this video: Heartsrevolution- The Rose and her Prince.

Or in this movie I saw yesterday. Le Scaphandre et le Papillion (The Divingbell and the Butterfly) Its the story of a French man who suffers a stroke and gets "locked in syndrome." His brain is fully functional but the only way he can communicate is by blinking one eye. He compares it with being inside one of those old, Captain Nemo style diving bells. Its all very sad but so, so beautiful at the same time. The music is simple but incredibly present. And there was this reoccuring scene of a disintegrating iceberg. Huge pieces of ice breaking off and smashing into the icy, dirty water underneath. I cried. ( I never cry really)
