Friday I finally got a subscription to the velib biking system. Since then Ive spent my days riding bikes, back and fourth, up and down. Parisians are not especially kind to bikers, but thanks to a nice mayor, quite a nice system of bikepaths and of course the many velibs has come into place. So thanks to him, I get on my velib (and at times risk my life) conquering the streets of Paris. I se new streets, markets, stumble upon cute stores, I get yelled at by cheesy French men in small cars with their windows open and by old men because I am biking in the direction opposite of the cars. Tonight, I ended a splendid, warm Parisian weekend with a bike ride to the Jardin de Luxembourg where I met Lisa and Tom for an afternoon stroll. Oh how metropolitan I have become. Tomorrow school starts for real…I am nervous, but curious, terrified, but excited. Ah beginnings!
